Our project is over: Great success for ‘Migrants as Youth Work Professionals’!
In January 2020, we started the project, which ran for five years. During this time, we trained 99 young people from 40 different countries (with a migration background, with refugee experience and without this experience) to become trainers in extracurricular political youth education. There were 104 training days as part of the qualification programme.
And we can draw a positive balance: over 170 different, innovative educational programmes for children and young people have been created over the course of the project. Almost 6,150 children and young people have taken part in our educational programmes during this period.
The qualification programmes have now ended and our project office is closed. However, the educational programmes can still be requested in the future at: workshops@ejbweimar.de. Our colleagues at the EJBW will be happy to help you find trainers and workshops. This means that many more children and young people will be able to gain knowledge through our workshops in the future.

Network meeting of all year groups has taken place
From 24 to 27 October, our network meeting took place at the EJBW, to which all graduates of last year’s qualification programmes were invited.
On Thursday, we started with a two-part workshop on ›Stress management‹. On Friday, participants had the option of attending workshops on ›Effects of the German colonial period in Togo‹ or ›Introduction to cultural approaches and concepts‹. The afternoon was dedicated to ›Building a profile as a political educator‹. We were delighted to have Alina Jugenheimer from AdB (Arbeitskreis deutscher Bildungsstätten, Berlin) with us to present the competency model for professionals in political youth education. Juliana Odamea Asare also led a workshop on ›Digital tools in seminar work‹.On Saturday, the participants were able to deepen their profile as political educators and deal with ›Professional branding as a political educator‹.
On Saturday and Sunday, the trainers learnt how to run and design good workshops in sessions on ›Communication in workshops‹ and ›Flipchart design‹. There were also sessions on ›Right-wing extremism in workshops‹.In addition to the varied programme, there was also plenty of fun: there was a Sengalese dinner and on Saturday evening the opportunity to attend the ›Indian Night‹ in the Reithaus.
These days were all about networking with each other and presenting our own workshops and skills. They also focussed on the future of the network. The participants collected ideas and addressed the question: ›What do we need for a strong network?‹ in order to be able to stay in contact and work together in the future.
