Workshop “Diversity in everyday school life – how can we celebrate it?” successfully held in Nordhausen
On September 18, committed teachers from the network »Schule ohne Rassismus. School with Courage« network came together in Nordhausen to discuss the topic of ›Diversity in the classroom‹.
Our trainer Joseline Amutuhaire-Ondrusek held a workshop there. She gave a short input on the topic of diversity, the dimensions of diversity and the laws and strategies for equal treatment and diversity (which form the basis for diversity and the fight against discrimination in Germany).
There was also a discussion about how diversity enriches our everyday lives and why it is important to promote it in schools.
At various tables in the form of a »World Trade Cafe«, the teachers were able to discuss various questions about promoting diversity in the classroom. E.g. What does diversity mean in the context of a classroom? What methods can be used to promote diversity (e.g. starting with recognizing the different languages present in a classroom)? There was also an exchange about the good experiences that have been made and about the role of parents and the community.
Finally, the participants recorded the results of their work in the form of posters and designed them. This means that one or two ideas can be used in everyday teaching in the future and promote diversity in schools.
